Open Minds aims to address extremist ideologies by providing a platflorm for rational, thoughtful discussion of issues affecting students & their communities in conflict-torn regions of the country.
It trains young people from marginalised and misunderstood backgrounds in journalism and discussion skills, publishing their work to give them the opportunity to express themselves on national and international platforms in a balanced and tolerant way.
Every school we work with gets a trainer, who works with a small group of students for one year to research and write good, interesting, balanced news stories and investigations. Everyone else in the school can also come to discussion clubs about current affairs.
